Plateau Rosa – Zermatt
In the morning we can encounter some skiers in front of the hut. They can also practice during summer, on the glacier slopes. We travel, roped up (because of the many chasms), over the lower glacier slopes. Approximately at point 3112, we reach the moraine, which leads us to the Gandegg-Hut. The eternal ice of the surrounding mountains glitters so strong in the sunlight, that the hiker gladly puts on his sunglasses. The huge mountains raise in the clear sky, from the Matterhorn to the Monte-Rosa-massif until the Mischabel chain and the Weisshorn. Entirely to the north with good farsight we can even spot the Bietschhorn.
Over "Trockener Steg" we can either reach "Leichenbretter" on the right side or, to the left side, "Sandiger Boden". Both tracks lead to Furgg. The rocks on the path show some distinctive traces of many hiking staffs. A little bit further down, we reach, again, a timber line. In "Hermetje" we can enjoy, a last time, the calm of the mountains, on the terrace of a small restaurant. We now go through "Zum See" and "Blatten" to Zermatt. We meet more day tourists and weekend hikers and finally reach the hectic streets of the carfree Zermatt.
