This stage is relatively short and can therefore easely be combined with the descent to Zermatt. To spend the night at 3400 meters is certainly an unforgettable experience.
From Cervinia the path leads under the steel cables of the ropecars up to Plan Maison. On the terrace of the restaurant we can rest, because it is not so hectic during the summer season. Over the ski slopes we reach the Theodul-pass. A short tour of the glacier leads us up on the Testa Grigia / Plateau Rosa. The Rifugio Guide del Cervino offers simple shared rooms and a fantastic cuisine. Directly adjacent, the razorsharp ridges of the Matterhorn raise in the evening sky. On the opposite side we see the Breithorn and the station on the Kleines Matterhorn.
