From Arolla we follow the partially asphalted, flat, natural road, into the valley. After the crossing of the stream a path leads us through the moraines. At point 2089 it leads us up to the Plan de Bertol. The second path goes to the foot of the glacier. A small iron ladder has to be climbed up. Ropes help to overcome the huge boulders.Soon we arrive, through moraines, at the glacier. We cross the glacier, roped up, following the big blue wooden tripods. The path is always well marked. The dark massif of the Bouquetins dominates the steel blue sky.
From the pass we go down through much scree over a steep level, to the Rifugio Nacamuli CAI at 2830 meters. The opportunity arrises to make an extensive rest and savour a tasty Polenta. The new hut also suits perfectly as a stage stop. Afterwards another level follows, which is well secured with iron steps and chains. We encounter marmots which prefer to lay lazily in the sun than to flee from the hikers. Again we arrive at the timber line. The wonderful path descends comfortably to the friendly Rifugio Prarayer at 2010 meters.
