Gruben – Zinal
The morning breeze helps with the steep ascent. On the Stafel we meet cows again. At a steep jag we can observe, extraordinary well, the geological particularities of Wallis. Different rock layers are piling over each other. The path gets flatter and rises to the Meidpass. Just below the pass it gets steep again.

On the Meidpass we can already spot, from afar, the famous Hotel Weisshorn. The following path has been walked on so many times that it has been silting up. Hikers with lightweight backpacks pant at a quick pace to the hotel. At "Le Chiesso" we encounter the famous route Sierre-Zinal. From now on, the yellow "Z" on the marking stones will accompany us all the way to Zunal.

In the Hotel Weisshorn we can enjoy a Sierreoise, a beer, which is brewed only in this region and has an exquisite taste.
After a short ascent the path leads us at the foot of some pointy pinnacles in direction of Zinal. The way is set out very comfortably, the markings are easy to spot. We arrive at Pt. 2424 and see the "Couronne Impériale" raise majestically, back in the valley, towards the sky. For the first time we can also make out the Matterhorn in the rear. Through the basin "Montagne de Nava" and then the "Barneuza" we draw nearer to our destination, Zinal. The descent leads us on broad paths through the woods down in the picturesque village.
